The safe and efficient transportation of liquefied natural gas (LNG) is of crucial importance for a secure global energy supply. HEMA offers customized band sawing machines and cutting systems as well as complete solutions and production systems. The systems enable the fully automated processing of special insulating materials (e.g. fiber-reinforced PU foam) from the original raw block to the precisely formatted end product.

The handling of the blanks is just as automatic as the final stacking of the finished components. The individual process steps within the production line include, for example, trimming, dividing, panel cutting, formatting, sanding, marking and checking the required component quality.

The processing of insulating materials for the production of LNG tanks is complex and requires extensive knowledge of the entire process chain and the material to be processed.


  • Productivity: In order for conveyor belt solutions and production lines to operate economically, a corresponding throughput must be achieved. HEMA conveyor belt solutions enable high processing speeds and dynamic axis speeds, reducing cycle times while maximizing output.
  • Precision: the panels produced in the cutting line are often processed into multi-layer sandwich components. Despite the high processing speed, particularly precise processing of the workpieces is necessary to ensure that the subsequent production process runs smoothly. Angle cuts are also often required, whereby the chamfers cut must be produced with particularly tight tolerances. Special angle-adjustable band saw blades from HEMA are ideally suited to this task thanks to modern sensor technology.
  • Robustness: The insulating materials used in the production of cryogenic tank insulation are usually very abrasive and place the highest demands on the machines used. Thanks to a careful selection of wear-resistant machine elements and components, HEMA machines and systems are well protected against the abrasive workpieces and dust. This means fewer downtimes due to maintenance work and therefore higher productivity.
